Using Cloud Coach Project Structure

After you’ve created a new project in Cloud Coach, you can view your project in either Gantt or tabular format. In Cloud Coach, projects are made up of phases and tasks.

Phases are logical groupings of tasks by areas, such as a design phase, a build phase, or a test phase. These phases are denoted by yellow bars on the Gantt chart.

Project tasks are within a phase. Project tasks are date driven and are represented by blue bars on the Gantt chart.

As you identify the workflow of your project, you will identify task dependencies, when one task must be completed before a subsequent task can begin. In Cloud Coach, you can make project tasks dependent upon one another by dragging and dropping a link between the two tasks.

Unlike some other project management systems, Cloud Coach provides a true task dependency system. When the date of one task moves, the change will cascade down through the subsequent tasks in the project.

Any resource allocations will also move in line with the tasks to which they are allocated, so everything always stays on the same page.

From the Gantt chart, you can also easily see which tasks are impacting your overall project delivery by viewing the critical path.

You can search within the Gantt Chart view, allowing you to quickly find the phase or task that you are looking for. From the Gantt chart, you can also update the task progress completion percentage.

From the Gantt view, you can also track the health of a project task at a view. As a Cloud Coach  user, you determine the business rules that impact the health of the task.

The person icon to the right of the task name lets you know at a glance if the task has been assigned to a resource. A red icon indicates that the task has not been assigned. When the icon is green, a resource has been assigned to complete the task.

Project Task View

For a more detailed view of your project, you can also use the project task view. In this view, you can quickly update the status of a task, the health of the tasks, and the dependencies. This view is useful when you need to see additional details that are not available in the Gantt view.
