Can we customize projects like we do leads or opportunities?

There are hundreds of ways to run projects – from simple spreadsheets and whiteboards to complex project portfolio solutions. No matter which type of solution you choose, one of the key things to consider is how you can customize the solution to work for your unique business. Some common customization requests include:

• The name of the person or department that requested the project
• The budget for the project
• Task descriptions (beyond subtasks)
• Task types (like design or testing for software development)

Adding a “Request Department” to a Project Details Page

Since Cloud Coach solutions are native on Salesforce, they’re easy to customize. In this case, I want to create a new field where the person building the task can indicate which department requested the work. I may use this for insight on the project, but I also want to use it in creating new list views and reports. I add a new picklist to ensure that all the entries are the same to make my reporting and list views easier to manage.
